YAMAHA U1,U2,U3

Posted on Saturday September 11th, 2010 by www.yamahakeyboards.com.au

U1
The U1 or U2 are ideal for those who find the height and general size of the U3 series to be to dominating in their room setting or size.
New T121 or "as new" U1
The Yamaha T121 retails at $6 995.
The Yamaha U1 retails at $11 995
Although made in Japan and in the same factory and build quality as the U series the T121 grading quality of parts is lower including some structural modifications (less back posts).
Below are both internal and external differences between U1 and T121.
1. The U1 has a hardwood bridgecap. The T121 does not.
2. The U1 has double felted hammers. The T121 is single felt.
3. The U1 has five back posts, one more than the T121.
4. The U1 has brass castors. The T121s are steel.
5. The U1 has a slow drop, lockable fallboard. The T121 does not.
6. The U1 has an extended music rest, while the T121 has a normal music rest

Hence the $5000 price difference.
Why anyone would actually buy a new T121 when they could get an as new U1 gold series for the same if not lower price is beyond our comprehension.

U2
Fitting between the U1 and U3 is the U2 series.
Our clients who love everything about the U3 except its size find the U2 a perfect balance.
The cabinet design is different to that of the U1 and U3 in that it has no front toe and truss. While slightly shorter than the U3 this cabinet style gives less dominant visuals and fits well in small and mid sized rooms where the discerning home owner wants visual balance.

U3
The U3 along with the UX3 were the models that put Yamaha on the map around the world, where the standard was generally of european stock. Yamaha changed this with the U3 series.
At 131cm (52") is Yamaha's tallest upright.
Popular in institutions, teachers and professional pianists the U series has become the most popular professional upright instrument in the world.
With a current retail price of around $15 995. At around $7495 you'll see the value in our range.

YAMAHA UX1 & UX3

Posted on Saturday September 11th, 2010 by www.yamahakeyboards.com.au

Sharing all the features of the U1 it includes the following additions.

•X braced back posts
This design creates an improved frame rigidity, tuning stability, sustain and bass response.

•Sound diffusion channels on the front panel
Diffusion channels on the front panel give the UX1 a more immersive musical experience for the pianist.

•higher quality hammerheads, typically the K series.

K series hammers result in a more pleasing tone and allows the technician greater scope when fine voicing.

The UX1 is essentially a premium U1

UX3
The UX3 was a very popular instrument in institutions and orchestra pits where quality of tone and projection was required in a compact upright design.

Its features in addition to those of the U3 are

•X braced back posts
•Front panel sound diffusion channels
•Higher quality hammerheads
The X braced, or radial back posts (hence the X in the model number) are not an original design concept, Yamaha emulated this from the handmade German Grotrian Steinweg upright. This design accounts for its particular quality of increased bass tone and general tuning stability.

The UX3 is bold in style as in it tone, the UX3 are certainly a cut above the U3.

THE WORLD TOP RATED PIANOS

Sauter is the world s oldest, continuously run piano company, producing pianos since 1819, with family members still involved in the management of the company.
Sauter has been perfecting the art of piano manufacturing, and has its roots in making pianos for Beethoven. Johann Grimm, the founder of the company, learned the trade of piano making from Johann Andreas Streicher in Vienna, who built Beethoven´s instruments. This is how the founder of SAUTER early became acquainted with the high requirements of the famous composer. After successful completion of his apprenticeship, he started building square pianos himself.

The art of building such high-standard pianos grew into a family tradition, with new improvements and refinements evolving into an excellent culture of sound. Joyfulness in innovation has become an inherent part of their philosophy. SAUTER placed the emphasis on developing the double repetition action of grand pianos and implementing high standard pianos of master quality.
These pianos are beautiful to the eye and ear, and they are also great instruments for the concert stage and the home.
